“Take your pick from quiet, sandy beaches ideal for a potter and a sandcastle, rolling countryside studded with crumbling castles and verdant gardens, delightful walks through pretty villages with atmospheric pubs.”

Local Area & Things to Do

The Vale is rich in things to do and see - a wonderful place to explore. We’ve put together a list below of some helpful links and ideas of things to do, but we’re always just a message away if you have any questions.

Local Towns & Villages

The historic market town of Cowbridge is about 1.5 miles away and takes about 40/45 minutes on foot. There are many shops, restaurants and bars in the town. There is also a large Waitrose. At the centre is a Physic Garden adjacent to the restored Old Walled Gardens. There are beautiful antique shops, cafes and bakeries.

Or perhaps visit another historic town right on the coast, Llantwit Major. Steeped in history with a church dating back to 508AD, its old winding streets in the picturesque West End of town are studded with pretty cottages and cosy pubs.

Plas Llanmihangel is also close to the famous seaside town of Barry, which is full of attractions. If you’re looking for even more things to do, why not visit the capital, Cardiff, just a short train journey away. The train can be taken from Llantwit Major directly to Cardiff.
