a fairytale stay

A treasure trove of historic tales, turrets and twisting stone staircases, Plas Llanmihangel’s charm is in its balance of enchanting intrigue and welcoming luxury. A fairytale escape to never forget.

  • Thought to be one of the oldest homes in Wales (dating back to the 12th Century), Grade 1 listed Plas Llanmihangel was once owned by a Norman knight. Formerly the courthouse of the Vale of Glamorgan, this castellated manor house is rich with historical features, including a watch tower (perfect for stargazing), original barricaded door, priest holes, and an old dungeon entrance (now a fabulous games room).

Nestled deep in the Vale of Glamorgan’s rolling countryside, and a few short miles from its Heritage Coast, Llanmihangel is idyllic in its proximity to the very best of the local area. With panoramic views of the local countryside from the Tower, its the perfect place to plan your adventure! If you’re not keen on venturing far, the Plas is set within around 14 acres of grounds including a magical ancient Yew Tree wood.

Complete with a full suit of armour, four poster beds, enormous hearths and a medieval wood panelled Great Hall - Plas Llanmihangel has been lovingly restored to its former glory. Modernised with sympathetic touches and contemporary luxuries like a wood fired hot tub, the home offers the ultimate harmony of historic splendour and modern comfort.

Plas Llanmihangel has a two night minimum stay.

The groundskeeper will be there to check you into your stay and will be contactable for the duration of your visit.

    • Dogs: We welcome our canine friends, but respectfully ask that they are kept off the furniture at all times. Additionally they are not allowed in the pink snug room. Please be mindful that the yew tree berries in the garden are poisonous to dogs (and people!) if consumed. Please be mindful of the ponds on the grounds.

    • Owners note: This is a very, very old listed building with great importance to the local area and its history. We encourage our guests to enjoy this magical place but kindly ask that it is treated with the utmost respect and care, so it can be enjoyed by generations to come.

Please also note that due to the nature of such an old building, there are lots of hazards to be mindful of - including low ceilings and doorways, uneven stone stairways and wonky floors. This is not a modern home by any means! It’s very important to please take extra care, particularly with children / elderly guests. As Plas Llanmihangel was never built to be a modern staycation retreat, not every bedroom has its own bathroom - however there are plenty of bathrooms across the Plas which can be used in communal areas. Lastly, the castle can be cold in areas during the cooler months so we encourage guests to make sensible choices like keeping doors of unused rooms closed.

    • Safety Features in the house include: Fire Smoke Alarms, Carbon Monoxide Alarms, Fire Blankets, Fire Extinguishers, First Aid Box, Fireplace Guards

Finally, thank you for your interest in the property!
